Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was second child in a family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. The family relied on food deliveries from a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran claims her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic elementary school in her neighborhood and began high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite failing several courses during her freshman years.
