Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first female vice president and the highest ranking female official of the United American. She is a member and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was hired by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported healthcare reform, federal descheduling for cannabis, a path for undocumented immigrants to become citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also backed progressive tax reform. She was well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
